ABC Castle

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE the show Castle on ABC.

It’s about an author who teams up with the NYPD to solve crime cases in attempt at finding more inspiration and knowledge for his books.

Anyways, there’s an entire website dedicated to Richard Castle…they kind of make him out to seem like a real person, not just a fictional character.

There really are books by Richard Castle that you can buy and that are referenced on the show!

ANYWAYS, I was on the website and I found a couple Q & A’s for Richard Castle that I thought I’d share.

Q: What are your top five writing tips?

A: Write. Rewrite. Read. Do things in life that inspire you. Drink good wine with friends.

Q: What do you do when you have writer’s block?

A: I don’t believe in writer’s block. I believe in writer’s embarrassment. That’s when you’re so embarrassed by the horrendous drivel you’re writing that you can’t bear to see it on the page. After all, you can always write something. I’ve discovered that giving yourself permission to write poorly is the gateway to writing well. It may not be good, it may not make sense, but that’s okay. After enough pages of meaningless drivel, your brain will uncover something interesting, and before you know it, you’re off and writing again.
I’ve also discovered that writing about why you can’t write allows you to discover what’s holding you back. Once you know what’s holding you back, you can face the problem and solve it.
