It’s been almost a year since I mentioned I wanted to read Elaine Mercado’s true account of her haunting documented in her book “Grave’s End.” Well, I finally did it. I finished the book last night. See, last week I finished reading Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard. I was going to my cousin’s wedding this past weekend, which was a 5.5 hour drive…so I knew I needed something else to read on the ride. Not having time to order a new book online or stop at a bookstore, I (gasp!) went to my local library!
I had a list of books I wanted to read…the only one they had was “Grave’s End,” but I was still ecstatic because that’s the one I wanted the most. It only took me 4 days to finish it, which is very good considering I’m usually too busy to finish a book so fast. I can’t even remember the last time I finished a book in that amount of time…it’s been awhile. But this book was one of those that crosses your mind throughout your day and you get excited, thinking “Ohmygod, I cannot WAIT until later tonight when I can curl up on the couch and read more of my book.”
If you love nonfiction, supernatural stories (who doesn’t?…Or at least, who reading this doesn’t?) you have got to read this book. It is one of the most honest and scary accounts I’ve ever read. I have such a respect for the author, Elaine Mercado, who still lives in the house to this day! I wish there were more stories out there and published just like this.
